Karlsruhe, Germany, November 20, 2009 – The Audemars Piguet 'Changing Times' Award 2009 has been given to Gameforge, the largest independent global provider of browser and client-based online games. The founder-operated company from Karlsruhe matched all the requirements and became European Technology Entrepreneur of the Year 2009. Klaas Kersting, CEO and co-founder of Gameforge, accepted the award last night during a celebratory gala in Geneva. Since 2006, Audemars Piguet grants this annual award to the enterprise that, within the shortest time, had a maximum influence on the greatest number of people. 180 contenders were submitted this year alone.

"We are very proud that we were able to prevail among so many competitors. This award is another acknowledgement of the hard work put in by the entire team. Millions of people are enthusiastic about online games these days, and it is fantastic to see how the Gameforge success story is reflected in winning this award," says Klaas Kersting.
The top-class jury of the Audemars Piguet 'Changing Times' European Technology Entrepreneur of the Year Award is composed of representatives from Google, Good Energies, European Tech Tour Association (ETT), Wellington Partners, Sofinnova, Go4Venture, Partech, Accel Partners, Index Ventures, Balderton Capital, and Northzone Ventures. Contenders needed to show an annual growth rate of at least 50 percent over the last three years. The enterprise could not be older than ten years, and needed to draw its profits from several different countries. Founder-led companies with European management were given preference.
